"Building Comfort: Safe Space in Virtual Reality" is a bachelor thesis in progress, focusing on the concept of such environments, exploring their comforting aspects as well as the challenges they present. This interactive VR installation aims to visually display my understanding and perception of a safe space as an author. But there are also so-called disturbing points where this space becomes a place of procrastination or 'avoidance' of problems.
In the VR installation, the natural environment serves as a representation of how the space feels to me personally, embodying a sense of comfort and security. The organic, glowing shapes scattered throughout this space symbolize my thoughts, reflections and memories.
In the development of "Building Comfort: Safe Space in Virtual Reality", an essential part of the process involved creating a map of the VR environment along with rough sketches of the various zones. This mapping was crucial in visually organizing the space and ensuring a coherent flow, with each zone designed to evoke specific emotions and interactions. As the project progresses, it is currently in the testing phase within Blender and Unity.
